Inspired Life

Disappointment and Health Challenges

Amy Marcoux is a young adventure-lover, but an injury that wouldn’t heal changed her active life. After a surgery didn’t correct the issue, she continued to see doctors. Eventually, she was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), a term that describes excess and prolonged pain and inflammation that follows an injury to an arm or leg.

It changed Amy’s active lifestyle from avid hiker and Pilates instructor to someone who spent days on the couch because of a disability. Amy talked about setting aside her pride and receiving help. She also talked about trying to do it all on her own.

About Amy:

Amy Marcoux is an energetic adventure seeking writer, speaker, mentor, wife, and mother of three girls in a home full of personality. She is a strong-willed perfectionist who tries to do it all and wants people think she has it all together. She is learning, through the unexpected, to let go and to share her real life so that she can point others to the hope she has found.

Life, Repurposed

“I’m used to doing everything on my own strength. I’ve very self-sufficient. And what does life look like when I can’t depend on myself?” —Amy Marcoux

Purpose for Every Day

When she was stuck on the couch and dependent on her husband for help, he would say, “Your life still has purpose, Amy. What’s your purpose today?” She’s turned her pain (physical and emotional) into a blog and a radio show. She shares from her heart about how God can use her in the midst of it all.

Amy quoted this verse: “I will give you treasures concealed in darkness and riches hidden away in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel who calls you by your name” (Isaiah 45:3 NCB)

Amy says when you feel like you’re face down in the dust, and you feel as if you can’t take one more step, God is still there. He is our strength. She says, “God has a plan for each of our days, and it doesn’t have to be perfect.”
