Inspired Life: A Parable About Treasure

Have you ever had a day when you wish you could have a word that assured you that there was some sort of order to this mess we call life? You probably already know that life doesn't come without hardship. It can feel like a long journey from one challenge to another. If you remember the fairytales of childhood, you know that happily ever after was a common thread. But life doesn't go that way, does it? There are moments of happiness, but reality includes a dose of heartache too.

It's more about living joyfully ever after – where there is hope in the midst of the real stuff. But don't you have days where you want someone to tuck you in, bring you a glass of milk, and read you a bedtime story? This podcast episode is just that! I read my book Jewel: A Parable About Living as a Precious Treasure for you in this episode. From girls to grownups, this is a message about how much you matter and of hope for the future.

Life, Repurposed: A Word of Hope

I love knowing that God has a plan for my life and that it includes a promise! God offers us the opportunity to be adopted into his family. We're still part of our earthly family, but we have this bigger promise of something that goes beyond this life. There are so many things in life that tear us down. A trip through my social media feed proves that! In the midst of that, it's rare to hear ecouragement. It is far more common to hear words that tear us down rather than words that build us up.

So, in this episode my simple goal is to tell you that you matter and you are a precious gem. You were created in the image of God with purpose and value. Embrace it and receive the hope that is yours to keep.

In this episode, I feature one of my  own books.

More than a simple fairytale, Jewel: A Parable About Living as a Precious Treasure is a story that inspires readers of all ages with a parable that demonstrates how precious they are in the eyes of God. Jewel discovers how to live as a daughter of the king while waiting for the moment when the prince would carry her off to her forever castle. The book includes discussion questions at the end to start meaningful conversations about faith with children. Questions will help them think about who each person in the story represents and also to talk about what the story means.
