The Pinterest Project Day 19: Getting on a Fitness Track

Some of you may have wondered what I was rearranging furniture for yesterday. A friend is loaning me her treadmill. I actually did some more rearranging today, since it was bigger than I thought, and didn’t fit where I planned to put it.  I’m so desperate to get back on track fitness-wise that I’m not worried that it stands prominently in the living area. If I put it anywhere else, I’m sure to abandon the routine and make excuses: the family room is too cold, no TV signal, no Netflix, yada, yada, yada. At least, in the living room, I […]

The Pinterest Project Day 18: Virtual Furniture Rearrangement

I love to rearrange the furniture! I do it often enough to drive my family crazy. After taking down the Christmas tree this month, I decided to make a few changes. And then today, I thought I would make a few additional modifications to make room for a new item. As I moved things, I wondered if there was some other way to decide on furniture placement without dragging it into an arrangement only to shuffle it all around again.A Pinterest post featured a free virtual arranger. I took a few minutes to play with it, and it was kind of […]

Pinterest Project Day 17: Trash Bag Dispenser

Someday, I will do a Pinterest experiment with project that take more time. But for now, I’ve been experimenting with short projects. Today, I tried a trash bag dispenser I saw on Pinterest. If you have been following my “project” for all 17 days, by now you know I don’t really follow directions. Can you say controlling? Anyhoo, I saw the picture of this project and figured I knew how to do it. However, afterwards I discovered that the sample and the directions lead to something a bit more durable. Ahem. Next time, I shall not hurry. But for now, here’s […]

The Pinterest Project Day 16: Bottle Cap Upcycles

The Pinterest Project is halfway done! For Day 16, I decided to experiment with projects I saw on Pinterest for upcycling plastic bottle lids. The first was a pillbox made out of two lids. I happened to have two Diet Pepsi bottles (the small single serve size). The original project gives instructions for sawing the lids off 2-Liter bottles.  I tried it without a hacksaw, and cut it a little higher because the original seems so small that it’s hardly useful. However, I quickly saw why they did it that way. At least I’m admitting my aversion to following directions. With mine, there […]

The PInterest Project Day 13: Kitchen Stand

If you’ve been following my Pinterest Project, you know that I’m trying, or evaluating some project or recommendation from Pinterest every day for 31 days. Since I’m a day behind on this post, I’ll make Day 13 a quick one. I saw a post about a cake stand used by the sink to hold dish soap and hand soap. The original post is on a blog called Natalme. Here is the photo from that blog: It didn’t take me long ot duplicate it. I had a candle stand (remember the 3-wick candle years?) that I wasn’t using anymore for its intended […]

Pinterest Project Days 12: Middle Eastern Food

I didn’t plan ahead very well for the weekend regarding when I would try out projects from Pinterest. So, today, I’m playing catch-up. Ready? Here come three projects for you in a row.Day 12: Sampling Middle Eastern FoodSeveral Pinterest users have linked to the Holy Land Grocery and Deli in Minneapolis. One pin linked to it as one of the Twin Cities food finds and others linked to the Holy Land website. We had an opportunity to visit the Holy Land Deli and Grocery with a tour group with our exchange student and other families. We shopped in the store […]

The Pinterest Project Day 11: Before and After Makeup

I have seen a lot of posts on Pinterest of celebrities with and without their makeup. Some are cruelly captured by paparazzi while out and about. Others allowed the photos to be posted. It make me think about how vain I am about people seeing me with my face done. And about how I might feel if someone was outside of my home with a camera taking pictures of me with a zoom lens when I walked to the mailbox on a Saturday.I can’t help but wonder why we make such a big deal of it. Don’t we all look terrible […]

The Pinterest Project Day 10: Homemade Ice Cream

This fall, I found an ice cream maker on clearance (end of Summer stock) for around $10. We have an exchange student living with us who loves ice cream, and my boys have many fond memories of making ice cream with their grandma before she passed away. I decided it would be a fun surprise to put it away for Christmas break.  On Christmas Eve, I let the guys open it as an early present. When I purchased it, I also got some packages of ice cream mix for $1 that only needed milk added. We made a few, and they […]

The Pinterest Project Day 9: Flourless Pizza

There are a lot of recipes floating around Pinterest for pizza crust made from cauliflower. So I had to try it. Mostly because I was skeptical I looked through recipes and most had this ratio: 1 cup cooked, riced cauliflower 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1 egg, beaten I cooked the cauliflower until it was tender, and then used my potato ricer. If I didn’t have one, I could have used the food processor and pulsed it. Then I mixed the three ingredients together and shaped them into a circle on a baking sheet. I baked it at 425 degrees […]

The Pinterest Project Day 8: Reconditioning a Craft Cutting Mat

My Day 8 Pinterest Project sort of morphed into a Michelle project. This is because my perfectionist and hyper-controlling nature is to modify the instructions on just about everything I attempt. It’s a sickness, I know. But, I used Pinterest, the mecca of all things craft and DIY to see if there was a great method for reconditioning the cutting mats I use with my Silhouette machine.I know, you may be thinking, who sits around wondering how to recondition their craft mats. Um. Weird people like me? Or you may be thinking, what’s a craft mat, and what’s a Silhouette? […]
