Articles

The new magazine-style format of the blog will include posts that have three elements: 1) a fun repurposed or before-and-after idea, 2) a practical real-life article to inspire you to repurpose your own struggles or challenges into growth opportunities, and 3) a reading recommendation for you to consider. Michelle loves books, all things trash-to-treasure, and helping women discover hope - something she hopes you enjoy in every issue!

The Story Our Scars Tell

In an essay from Mary Martin Wiens, she explains how she came to terms with the scars and imperfections on her body, and how she sees them now as lines of a story. Here is an excerpt from Mary’s essay. Be sure to hope over to the full post, because the whole article is beautiful. We […]

Fall Trash to Treasure Decorations

Before the snow flurries arrived in northern Wisconsin, which was ridiculously early this year, I decorated with some repurposed finds. I made some pumpkins from old books, and painted a pie tin with chalkboard paint. I went to church last night, and so today instead of being at church I’m out on the deck reading. No makeup. No shower. I’ve scrolled through my IG feeds and there are a billion perfect photos of bloggers, writers and influencers all professionally staged, touched up, filtered. I want to stay real #nomask #nofilter . No fake perfection. But it’s tough. Those photos are lovely! The perfect and polished is such a magnet. I could create my business and public persona that way, but I’m fighting the illusion and wanting to rebel against the norm. To be a #nonconformist in the online realm of writers and bloggers. Can I get an amen from the other rebels out there? This isn’t about how I see beauty but in how I see reality.
